Rêve Patisserie is not just a bakery; it's a dream come true nurtured by passion, family, and a lifetime of sweet memories. I'm Julie Hutton, the baker behind Rêve Patisserie, and I'm thrilled to share my journey with you.
Growing up in Bordeaux, France, baking wasn't just a hobby for me—it was a way of life. I fondly remember spending countless hours in the kitchen with my mom, creating cakes and meringues for my girl-scout troop or our next family get together, that filled our home with irresistible aromas. Dessert was never just an afterthought; it was a celebration of life's sweet moments. I may have even indulged in cookies for breakfast more often than I should admit!
While my love for baking never waned, it wasn't until later in life that I turned my passion into a profession. During my husband's medical residency in Columbia, MO, I took a leap of faith and launched my first bakery business, Frenchy Treats. It was a labor of love, with my husband's colleagues eagerly becoming my first taste-testers and loyal customers. Their feedback and encouragement fueled my determination to pursue my baking dreams until circumstances changed. Unfortunately, when residency ended and we moved, I had to make the difficult decision to close the business.
Life eventually led us back to Santa Barbara, where my husband and I had first met. As our family grew, so did my desire to create delectable treats once again. Now, with Rêve Patisserie, I'm embarking on a new chapter of this delicious adventure right here in Santa Barbara. I can't wait to connect with fellow enthusiasts of French treats and share the joy of indulging in decadent desserts that bring people together.
